Adaptive Scissors

Many of my student have a hard time using scissors (even ones manufactured for students with disabilities) and holding the the paper at the same time. My school's OT department came up with this wood base to mount the scissors on, so that the students just press the top of the loop while they (or the aide) move the paper along.

Brilliant! How thoughtful of them to develop this innovative device! Your kids must be very happy and feel more successful.

Do you have lesson plans or quick how to's for some of your work? I teach middle school and host our special needs children during my planning time because they are not scheduled for art. I love your work you do with your kids, and sometimes its hard for me to generate ideas that are suitable for the students.
